Overview:

CX8903 is a switch buck DC-DC controller that supports a wide range of input voltages, with a maximum input voltage of 100V.

The CX8903 features low standby power consumption, high efficiency, low ripple, excellent bus voltage regulation, and load regulation.

The CX8903 integrates a 100V/90mΩ power transistor that supports a 3A current output. The output voltage can be set by adjusting the voltage divider resistors on the FB pin.

The CX8903 uses a fixed frequency PWM control method, with a typical switching frequency of 100KHz. It enters burst mode under light load to achieve high conversion efficiency.

The CX8903 also integrates soft start and over-temperature protection circuits, as well as output short-circuit protection, current limiting protection, and cycle-by-cycle current detection functions, enhancing system reliability.

The CX8903 is available in an SOP-8L package and has a very simple peripheral design, making it suitable for a wide range of input DC-DC buck applications.

  • Output short-circuit hiccup protection (The function of output short-circuit hiccup protection is that when the output current exceeds the OCP (Over Current Protection) threshold or a short circuit occurs, the chip controller will shut down the output. Since it is unknown when the output short circuit will be cleared, the controller needs to periodically attempt to turn on the output to determine if it is permissible to enable the output. This cycle of attempts and shutdowns is known as the output short-circuit hiccup protection mode. The benefit of this feature is that it prevents overcharging and thus protects the chip. Once the short-circuited load is removed, the output is restored, unlike the earliest products that required a complete power cut and reinsertion after a short circuit.)
