Overview

 

The CX8831CQ is a synchronous buck converter with multiple integrated fast charging protocols. It supports USB Type-C and PD3.2 protocols, including PPS, Qualcomm QC2.0/3.0/3.0+, Huawei FCP/SCP/HVSCP, VOOC, MediaTek PE2.0, Samsung AFC, USB BC1.2 DCP, and Apple 2.4A charging specifications. It provides a complete solution for power supply equipment such as car charging ports, various fast chargers, and smart power strips.


The CX8831CQ employs a COT control mode, integrates a current sampling circuit and ripple compensation circuit, and features integrated dual N-type low-impedance power switches. The CX8831CQ has a maximum input operating voltage of 36V, an output voltage range of 3.3V to 21V, and can deliver a maximum output power of 45W, adjusting the output voltage and current according to the identified fast charging protocol.


The CX8831CQ adapts to the input voltage, automatically adjusting the output power based on the input voltage.

The CX8831CQ output has CV/CC characteristics. When the output current is less than the set value, it operates in CV mode with a constant output voltage. When the output current exceeds the set value, it operates in CC mode, and the output voltage decreases.

 

The CX8831CQ features cable compensation function, increasing the output voltage correspondingly as the output current rises to compensate for the voltage drop caused by cable impedance.

 

By interconnecting two CX8831CQ chips (CHIP-LINK), dual USB-C ports can operate independently at high power, switching to low-power output when both ports are in use simultaneously. When one USB-C port operates within 5V/200mA (1W), the other USB-C port can achieve high-power output.

The CX8831CQ supports secondary programming, enabling online firmware upgrades.
