In this rapidly changing era of intelligent electronics, compact size, high efficiency, and highly integrated power supply solutions are increasingly favored by users. Integrating charging protocols into DC-DC buck converter chips not only simplifies the layout of components on the PCB, reduces circuit complexity, shortens the development cycle of solutions, improves production efficiency, but also further optimizes product costs. By integrating charging protocols, DC-DC buck converter chips can communicate better with devices such as chargers, car chargers, and intelligent power strips, achieving intelligent control and management. It efficiently enhances charging efficiency and provides users with a better charging experience.
CXW has launched a variety of DC-DC buck chips with built-in protocols to meet the needs of different application scenarios. Here, I would like to recommend a dual-C port DC-DC integrated fast charging PD solution - CX8831CQ.
The CX8831CQ is a buck SoC chip integrated with multiple fast charging protocols, using a QFN4*4-16L package, and an efficient synchronous buck converter is integrated inside the chip.
CX8831CQ supports USB Type-C and PD3.1 protocol, Qualcomm QC2.0/3.0/3.0+ protocols, Huawei FCP/SCP/HVSCP protocols, VOOC protocol, MediaTek PE2.0 protocol, Samsung AFC protocol, as well as USB BC1.2 DCP protocol and Apple2.4A charging specifications. It supports dual CC port outputs, with CHIP-LINK interconnection, capable of achieving simultaneous independent fast charging of dual C ports with PD3.1 (reducing power when multiple ports are inserted at the same time). It can provide a complete high-power dual-port power fast charging solution for car chargers.
CX8831CQ: Dual C port 45W USB PD integrated multi-protocol DC-DC buck solution.
CX8831CQ supports a maximum voltage input of 36V and supports five voltage output levels of 5V, 9V, 12V, 15V, and 20V. CX8831CQ uses a COT control mode, with built-in current sampling circuits and ripple compensation circuits. It has two N-type low impedance power switch tubes built-in. With only two inductors and two SOCs, a fast charging solution with reduced power when multiple ports are inserted can be achieved, effectively reducing the overall size of the solution and BOM costs.
CX8831CQ has a cable compensation function, which increases the output voltage accordingly as the output current increases to compensate for the voltage drop caused by cable impedance.
CX8831CQ can work at high power for a single USB-C port through interconnection of two chips (CHIP-LINK), and when working simultaneously, it reduces to low power output.
CX8831CQ can automatically adapt to input voltage and automatically adjust output power according to input voltage.
The output of CX8831CQ has CV/CC characteristics. When the output current is less than the set value, it is in CV mode, and the output voltage is constant. When the output current is greater than the set value, it is in CC mode, and the output voltage decreases.
When one of the USB-C ports is operating at 5V/200mA (1W) or less, the other USB-C port can achieve high-power output.
CX8831CQ supports secondary burning, which can achieve online upgrades.
