Three port 30W PD3.0 fast charging design reference

Three port (A+A+C) 30W PD3.0 fast charging reference design: built-in main control power chip CX7536, synchronous rectification using CX7538D can form a complete solution for USB PD 30W AAC fast charging.

Capable of operating in AC power of 100-240V-50/60Hz, 1.0A (Max), with a total of 5 output gears in terms of output. Any A port supports 18W power, and the total power of the two USB-A (smart) ports is 5V/3A (maximum). The USB Type-C ports have 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/2.5A, and 15V2A, with a total output power of 30W.

The PWM main control chip of the charger adopts CX7536, which is a current mode PWM control chip with a built-in 650V high-voltage power MOSFET. It is applied to schemes with a power of less than 40W and operates at a fixed switching frequency in PWM mode. This frequency is precisely set internally, and the working frequency is adjusted internally by the IC during no-load or light load.


The synchronous rectification adopts CX7538D, a high-performance synchronous rectification control circuit on the secondary side of the switching power supply. In low voltage and high current switching power supply applications, it easily meets level 6 energy efficiency and is an ideal solution for ultra-low conduction voltage drop rectification devices. It also supports switching power supply operating modes such as CCM/QR/DCM, and its extremely low conduction voltage drop produces losses much smaller than the conduction losses of Schottky diodes, greatly improving the conversion efficiency of the system, Significantly reduced the temperature of the rectifier device.


Its protocol chip adopts FP6601AA, which is a dual port USB A-type fast charging protocol controller that automatically detects the insertion of the USB port and the detection of the automatic fast charging protocol: Qualcomm QC3.0, Qualcomm QC2.0, Huawei FCP, Samsung AFC, automatically monitors the D+and D-data of the USB port, and adjusts the output voltage according to different mobile phones and devices.


FP6601AA not only supports the BC1.2 DCP protocol, but also includes intelligent recognition (5V) for Apple Samsung devices.


The C-port PD fast charging protocol is supported by JD6606S, which is an integrated USB Power Delivery 3.0 protocol controller that meets the following conditions: HUAWEI Fast Charging Protocol (FCP), Super Charging Protocol (SCP), ACF protocol and other protocols, Charging Protocol (FCP), Super Charging Protocol (SCP), ACF protocol, and Qualcomm Fast Charging 2.0/3.0/3+technology, specifically designed for USB Type-C source charging applications, such as power adapters Wall mounted chargers, power boards, etc.


A charging head supports simultaneous charging of three devices, as well as PD fast charging standard with multiple common fast charging protocols. It can be used in both mainstream digital products and legacy devices. The entire solution is quite simple and highly integrated. USB-C supports four fixed voltage outputs of 5V3A/9V3A/12V2.5A/15V2A, with a maximum output power of 30W, USB-A supports 18W power, and the total power of two USB-A (smart) ports is 5V/3A15W (maximum), 15W+5V3A three port simultaneous charging.
