Summary:

CX8838B is a synchronous switch buck boost controller. The controller can adjust the output voltage above or below the input voltage.

CX8838B can operate within a wide input voltage range of 3.6 V to 32 V. A wide input voltage range of 32 V (up to 36 V) to support various applications.

CX8838B adopts constant conduction time control in both boost and buck operating modes to achieve excellent load and line regulation.

CX8838B switch frequency can be set to 150kHz, 300kHz, 600kHz, or 1200kHz. Based on the different resistance values between the FREQ pin and GND pin, the switch frequency can be set to 150kHz, 300kHz 600kHz, or 1200kHz.

CX8838B has programmable soft start function and provides various protection functions, including cycle by cycle current limit, input undervoltage lock limit, input undervoltage lock (UVLO), output overvoltage protection (OVP), input overvoltage protection, overvoltage protection (OVP), input overvoltage protection thermal shutdown and output short-circuit protection, thermal shutdown and output short-circuit protection.

CX8838 VADJ and IADJ pins are used for programming output VBUS voltage and output current limits, voltage and output current limits, providing voltage control loops, constant current loops, thermal regulation loops temperature sensing loops, and temperature sensing. This makes the CX8838B the best choice for USB powered applications.
