CX8838B is a necessary application based on the 100W high-power USB PD fast charging scheme. It is a synchronous four switch unidirectional voltage up and down controller that operates stably within a wide input voltage range of 3.6V to 32V (maximum 36V), with a continuous load current of up to 20A. It can stably adjust the output voltage when the input voltage is higher or lower than the output voltage, supporting various voltage up and down field applications, Provide the optimal solution for high-power Type-C PD car chargers.


CX8838B controller adopts constant time control in step-down, step-down, and step-up operation modes to achieve excellent load and voltage adjustment. The programmable switching frequency can be set to 150kHz, 300kHz, 600kHz, or 1.2MHz.


CX8838B has programmable soft start function and provides various protection functions, including cycle by cycle current limiting, input undervoltage lockout (UVLO), output overvoltage protection (OVP), input overvoltage protection, over temperature protection, and output short-circuit protection.

The CX8838B controller comes with a frequency jitter function to improve EMI performance, which is easy to pass EMC radiation certification and perfectly solves the problem of engineers rectifying EMC.

Four CX3075B MOS transistors are selected, with a voltage resistance of 30V and a conductivity of 4m Ω, and are packaged in DFN5 * 6.


The input buck converter uses CX8576, which is a buck DC-DC converter with an input withstand voltage of 30V and can achieve precise constant voltage and dual constant current. The CX8576 has a built-in 10m Ω High side N MOS and 10m Ω Low side NMOS, which can support a continuous output current of 4.8A and adjustable output voltage, with a maximum support of 95% duty cycle.


The CX8576 achieves external shutdown function by lowering the logic level of the COMP/EN pin and entering standby mode. External compensation enables the feedback control loop to have good line voltage regulation and load regulation rates, and the peripheral design is flexible. It is a constant voltage and constant current buck DC-DC converter with minimal application, excellent performance, and stability and reliability.


Choose another protocol chip suitable for the two interfaces of car charging to control the output voltage of the interface. It is recommended that Type-C series ICs have a full protocol function of independent adjustment for each interface, and can achieve dual port independent output to achieve dual port dual fast charging.


The USB-A output VBUS switch uses a CX3419, PMOS transistor, with a voltage resistance of 30V, and is packaged in DFN3x3.


The MCU uses a CX2811 digital display microcontroller to collect voltage and current information, which is used to drive the LED display screen.
